Fall 2019 Project:

PEERS Power Up Radical Renovation

Help PEERS support marginalized people working in the sex industry.

Oct 13 - Nov 9, 2019

The Issue

For 22 years PEERS has been working with and for highly marginalized and stigmatized people in the sex industry. With the “Me Too” movement we’ve seen how wide spread sexual harassment and assault is. None are more vulnerable  than those who PEERS serves.

However, their building is bringing them down, inhibiting their ability to deliver many important programs.

  • Nightly outreach with food and harm reduction supplies
  • A Violence Prevention program
  • Housing program for people with housing barriers
  • A Health and nurses services
  • A Health Advocate Training program
  • Daily lunches for 75 and a drop-in centre
  • A clothing bank

The Project

To increase PEERS capacity to serve now and well into the future, HeroWork will engage in a full redesign of their interior space. It will fix many systemic challenges, including safety and code deficiencies.

Elements include a properly outfitted kitchen, a teaching space,  new shower, dining area,  clothing bank, stairs, upgraded electrical and plumbing, and work space for harm reduction, nurses, housing, counselling, leadership and more.

744 Fairview Road, in Esquimalt.

The project starts mid Oct and goes til mid Nov. between now and then, HeroWork is looking for inspired people and companies to get involved.
